Franklin Co., GA – Two Killed in Car Crash on Hwy 17 at Old Royston Rd

Franklin Co., GA (September 2, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Franklin County on Saturday claimed the lives of two victims. The incident took place just before 9:30 p.m. On August 31st.

Reports show that a 36-year-old woman, identified as Lisa Carey, was driving a Honda Civic southbound on Georgia Highway 17. At the same time, a Ford F250 pickup truck was being driven by 47-year-old Amy Leah Burns northbound on the same roadway. As the vehicles proceeded through the area near Old Royston Road, they collided. Carey was fatally injured as a result of the accident and pronounced deceased at the scene. 51-year-old Jeffery Wayne Burns, who was a passenger in the Ford, was also fatally injured and pronounced deceased. Amy Burns was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for the treatment of serious injuries. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
